Jindal Stainless is taking significant steps towards carbon neutrality with renewable energy and green hydrogen production. In a company statement, it announced that it has successfully reduced 2.4 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions between FY22 and FY23. The company is taking several measures to eliminate the carbon component in its emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

JSL aims to generate over 1.9 billion units of clean electricity annually and reduce over 13.52 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions annually by 2050.

The statement also mentioned that the company has started using renewable energy sources for its operations and has begun producing green hydrogen for steel-making processes. Additionally, JSL has undertaken digitalisation and technology upgradation for energy efficiency and is using EVs at its facilities in Odisha and Haryana.

JSL has joined the SBTi initiative, which will develop measures to help the company meet its net zero emission targets. These initiatives have contributed to a significant reduction of approximately 2.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions over the past two fiscal years.
