After participating in BRICS CCI WE, the Women Empowerment vertical of the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Raimati Ghiuria, Odisha’s Millet Queen has been invited by China to share her knowledge of the super grain. Hailing from Koraput district, Ghiuria has preserved more than 30 varieties of Indian millets so far.

Ghiuria was a VIP at this year’s G20 Summit, where the ‘International Year of Millets’ was celebrated to revive the interest in millets, which, over time, have lost out to grains like wheat and rice. Impressed by Ghiuria, who has trained hundreds of women in cultivating rare millets, the Chinese delegate at the BRICS CCI WE invited her to their country.

BRICS CCI WE recently hosted its 4th summit themed ‘The Changing Narrative: Women Development to Women-led Development,' which was attended by diplomats from several countries. Ghiuria along with Dr Meenakshi Gopinath, Founder and Director of WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) and Latika Bhandari a taekwondo athlete were felicitated as BRICS CCI WE Women Icon Trailblazers.
