MyGov, in partnership with IHM, Pusa, has launched 'YUVA PRATIBHA - Culinary Talent Hunt' today in order to reflect on India's rich culinary legacy and appreciate the value and relevance of what it can contribute to the world in terms of flavour, health, traditional knowledge, ingredients, and recipes.

Following an initiative by India to promote itself as a worldwide millet hub, the United Nations has designated 2023 as the "International Year of the Millets" with the goal of raising awareness and increasing millet production and consumption. For ages, millets have been a staple of our diet.

This contest aims to revive forgotten recipes and highlight the culinary skills of upcoming young chefs and home cooks. Because millets are combined in this competition, contestants have a singular chance to demonstrate their ingenuity and inventiveness in cooking using nutritious and sustainable resources, raising awareness of their adaptability.

It seeks to promote culinary talent of Indian youth, to create awareness of the contribution of nutri-cereals (millets) for food security and nutrition, to promote national outreach of millets and to incorporate millets in food preparation. Indian citizens between the ages of 18 and 40 are eligible to enter the contest. Every entry must be made through the MyGov interface. The evaluation of entries submitted in any other way will not be taken into account. Homemade dish or recipes with at least 50% millet-based ingredients are preferred.

The Finale (physical event) in New Delhi will reveal the top 3 winners. The first winner will receive $1,000,000 plus a trophy and certificate. The second and third place winners will receive $75,000 plus trophies and certificates, respectively. Each of the following 12 contestants will receive a cash prize of $5,000 in the final round. If the winner's city is different from the mentor's city, the top three winners will be mentored by executive chefs for a month with a mentorship stipend.
