The Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has started a month-long mass mobilisation push, which will culminate on June 5, 2023 in a massive celebration of World Environment Day, in order to further catalyse pan-Indian activism and understanding about LiFE. The theme for World Environment Day this year is Solutions to Plastic Pollution, a topic that aligns with one of the 7 themes of Mission LiFE: “Reducing the use of single-use plastic items”.

The MoEFCC has assigned all 99 Ministries and 36 States/UTs, along with their divisions, subordinate organisations, and field offices, to carry out LiFE-related activities starting on May 5, 2023. This is done in an effort to amplify all efforts to promote the message of LiFE and make the drive a success.

More than 25,000 LiFE-related events have been held across India in the last 10 days, inspiring people to take pro-environmental action. These consist of bike rallies, tree plantation drives, LiFE marathons, plastic collecting drives, composting workshops, beach and riverbank cleanup campaigns, and undertake LiFE commitment. Additionally, many colleges and institutions hold cultural competitions for things like youth parliaments, street plays, essays, and painting.

In order to build a systematic reporting format that can follow the progress being made on LiFE, the Ministry has created two specific portals for LiFE. Downloads of the 100+ works of art, movies, and educational resources produced by the ministry for LiFE can be made through the open-access Mission LiFE Portal (missionlife-moefcc.nic.in). For ministries and institutions to upload event reports and track the development of the mass mobilisation push, the Meri LiFE Portal (merilife.org) has been created.

The massive mobilisation drive will conclude with a massive celebration on June 5, 2023, in honour of World Environment Day.

On October 20, 2022, the Prime Minister officially unveiled Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) at Kevadia, Gujarat. In order to counteract climate change, Mission LiFE focuses on changing people's behaviours. The goal is to create a global movement that encourages resource use that is intentional and thoughtful rather than harmful and unthoughtful.

The MoEFCC has organised central ministries, state governments, institutions, and business organisations as part of their implementation efforts to coordinate their operations with LiFE and raise awareness of the sustainable measures that people can take.
