GreenLine Logistics, an Essar Group company, has announced that it has deployed its LNG-powered trucks to carry Nestle's Maggi noodles.
According to a business statement, this is in keeping with Nestle India's environmental aims, which include lowering the carbon footprint of its logistical activities.
"GreenLine has custom created the first-of-its-kind 46 feet long containers, which will be deployed for transporting Maggi noodles from Nestle's factory at Sanand, Gujarat to Bhiwandi, Maharashtra," it said.
When compared to diesel, its LNG-powered fleet dramatically reduces hazardous emissions: carbon dioxide by up to 30%, sulphur oxides by up to 100%, nitrogen oxides by up to 59%, carbon monoxide by up to 70%, and particulate matter (PM) by up to 91%.
"In line with Nestle's carbon emissions reduction goals, the adoption of GreenLine's larger 55 tonne, 46 feet containers replaces smaller diesel 20-tonne vehicles, resulting in a substantial reduction in vehicle requirements," it said.
This, together with the reduction in emissions obtained by using LNG-powered containers, helps Nestle's green aim and improves the company's ESG performance.
