Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his anticipation for substantive discussions and partnerships aimed at fostering a sustainable future during the COP-28 Summit. The UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warmly welcomed Modi to the venue.

In a statement, Modi conveyed his enthusiasm for participating in the pivotal COP-28 Summit, emphasising its significance as a global platform for climate action. He eagerly anticipated engaging in meaningful dialogues and collaborations to address the challenges of climate change.

"I extend my gratitude to my esteemed brother Mohamed Bin Zayed and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for the gracious welcome," Modi remarked.

Arriving in Dubai on Friday night, the Indian Prime Minister was greeted warmly by the local Indian community. Before departing from Delhi, Modi highlighted the importance of the event being held under the UAE Presidency, considering the UAE as a crucial partner for India in climate action.

"In alignment with our civilizational values, India has consistently underscored the importance of climate action while pursuing social and economic development," Modi stated.

Reflecting on India's commitment during its G20 presidency, Modi emphasised that climate action held a prominent place on the agenda. He noted that the New Delhi Leaders' Declaration outlined concrete steps towards climate action and sustainable development. Modi expressed optimism about COP28 advancing the consensus on these critical issues.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in the World Climate Action Summit on Friday as part of the United Nations' Conference of the Parties on Climate, known as COP28.
